This evening I held an information evening for parents and families so everyone had more information about National Standards before we send home our interim report at the end of next week. The slideshow below is a copy of my Keynote presentation. If you did not get along please take 10 minutes to read through the presentation, it will be invaluable when you receive your child's Learning Plan (interim report) next Friday (July 15). Thank you to those who came along.

Fraser, I really appreciated the time you took last night with your presentation on National Standards. I was left wondering why exactly they have been introduced? No league tables, not a tool for raising achievemnt levels, not even useful for comparison between schools? What purpose do they serve then? Coming from the UK where National Standards have been tried and abandoned, it was heartening to have confirmed that the school will continue working with the Curriculum and not be constrained to simply literacy, and numeracy. I know that you are working to improve the end of year report that children dread and parents love, but since you have been at the school, the amount of information available to us parents through your blog and the school website is simply staggering in comparison to the dark ages. Keep up the good work. Eileen
